Cruisers Tate Suffers Setback, Career Over
Wednesday, November 8th, 2023
Doctors told George Tate at the outset that his injury was potentially career-ending. As it happens, they were right. The Detroit right fielder informed his team that he would have to give up baseball and retire. Tate's injury, a torn labrum, was just too severe for him to continue his career as a player. The 33-year-old Tate told reporters he hopes to remain in baseball in some capacity in the Cruisers organization.

Tate has put up a career batting average of .273 with 774 hits, 117 homers and 404 RBIs.
