 | Cervantes's Hit Streak Over Wednesday, July 25th, 2007: The Mississippi Riverkings won the game 4-3 over the West Tenn Koalas. At the same time the Koalas mound corps did what no other team could do. They stopped the 23-game hitting streak of Riverkings second baseman Luis Cervantes. But that was still not enough to win the game. "Our pitchers might have focused a bit too much on stopping Cervantes," the West Tenn manager commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Riverkings have other hitters, and they did their job today." This season-to-date Cervantes has 3 home runs and a .364 batting average. |
