King Cobra Awards - Wildcard Rounds
Chicago 2 vs. Omaha 1 - SP Don Boyd of Chicago! Game 1 starter pitched 8.0 innings to garner the W over division rival Omaha.
Cincinnati 2 vs. Miami 1 - SS Simone Shearman of Cincinnati! Shearman hit .300 and drove in 4 runs during the series but it was his game 2 performance that won him the Award. With the game tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the 8th Cincy was able to rally and score 3 runs to take the lead and eventually win. Shearman contributed by hitting a devastating 2 run double. Cincy won Game 2 and 3 to take the series.
Stroh's Divisional Series MVP Awards
Denver 4 vs. Chicago 2 - Johnny Miller of Denver! The CF Johnny Miller was the strongest offensive force for Denver during the 6 game series. He hit .385/.407/.731 with 2 HR and 6 RBI. The two time All Star spent most of 2023 laid up with an ankle injury and only played in 45 games.
Washington 4 vs. New York 0 - Big Scott MacNamara of Washington! MacNamara bat lead off for the Admirals during the series and had a big HR in Game 2. He finished the series batting .500/.579/1.063 with 2 HR and 5 RBI. Ezra Awotwe was given consideration as the Admiral MVP as well.
Dallas 4 vs. Brooklyn 1 - Jeff Chambers of Dallas! Chambers won Game 1 and Game 4 for the Brahmas. His final line was 2-0, 14.1 IP, 1.26 ERA, 18Ks!, 5 BB and 8 hits allowed. The 4 time Bob Gibson winner picks up his 2nd Stroh's MVP, the first one was the 2017 ALDS MVP with LA versus Chicago.
Indianapolis 4 vs. Cincinnati 3 - Dylan Lewis of Indianapolis! The 37 year old journeyman was the Game 7 hero with his 2 run homer in the 7th inning which gave Indy the 2 run lead and eventual victory. Lewis led the Black Jacks in RBIs during the series with 6 and hit .333.
Stroh's League Championship MVP Awards
Washington 4 vs. Denver 1 - David Larson of Washington! Larson was the key hitter in both Games 6 and 7. He homered in both games and had important RBI as well. His Game 7 HR was the sole source of offense in the 3-1 win. Consideration was given to Joaquin Hernandez who set a AL playoff record with 15 Ks in Game 7 but ultimately his poor Game 1 performance held him back.
Indianapolis 4 vs. Dallas 1 - Luis Ortega of Indianapolis! Ortega hit .500/.476/.900 with 2 HR and 5 RBI. He had a huge HR in Game 4 versus The Jeff Chambers (not to be confused with Dallas SP Joe Chambers) which really ended Dallas' chances.
Stroh's World Series MVP Award
Indianapolis 4 vs. Washington 0 - Billy McDonald of Indianapolis! 38 year old veteran McDonald had 2 hits and 2 RBI in Game 1, a big HR in Game 3, and two doubles in Game 4. He totaled 5 RBI for the series and hit .455. A thorn in Washington's side in this rainy and dreary World Series.
