2010 ALDS MVP: Omaha v. Boston

The 2010 Stroh's ALDS MVP Award goes to....

2B CHRISTIAN KENNEDY, OMA. Round of Applause

The sweep of Boston by Omaha is probably due more the rotation of Omaha than any one particular player. However, Kennedy performed admirably throughout the series and came up with a huge game winning single in the bottom of the 10th of Game 2. Kennedy totaled 7 hits, 2 runs, and 2 rbi as well, getting at least 2 hits in every game but Game 4. Welcome yourself back to Omaha with a golden shower of Stroh's Christian.

The 2010 Stroh's ALDS MVP Award goes to....

DH/OF PAUL OWENS, MON. Round of Applause!

Surprising tidbit about the whole series: Despite winning the series 4-2, Montreal was only able to pick up 2 of the 6 available Player of the Games. In fact, an LA player picked up both Game 1 and Game 2 POG even in defeat. The young Paul Owens was able to pick up the all important clinching Game 6 Player of the Game with a 3-5, 2 run, 2 rbi performance. Owens spent most of 2010 in AA and only played 23 games in Montreal before making the post season cut. What an addition he has been, batting .400, 1 HR, 5 rbi, and most importantly being an on base run creator with 6 runs in 4 games and several walks while batting 2nd for the Knights. Drink thyself a Stroh's this night, Lord Owens of WalkALot.

2009 World Series MVP: Omaha v. Miami

The 2009 Stroh's World Series MVP Award goes to....

SP MANOLITO CALDERON, OMA. Round of Applause.

No player in the World Series was more instrumental in securing a Wolverine victory in the World Series than Manolito Calderon who pitched 2 spectacular games and was essentially unhittable. Calderon took the ball in Game 1 in the Polo Grounds and led Omaha to a decisive victory. He was able to go 7.1 innings, give up only 4 hits, strikeout 8 Banditos, and throw 124 pitches to get the Win. Omaha's bullpen would take over from there and snag 1 from Miami in Miami to start the World Series. Though, it was Calderon's pressure packed Game 7 performance that enthralled Wolverine nation. After Miami's glorious comeback in Game 6 the momentum was building for them and they were steaming to claim the title in the Polo Grounds. Yet Calderon was able to walk out there and maim the potent Banditos offense. He threw 8.1 IP and allowed only 2 hits and, of course, o runs. Again he went deep in the game, this time throwing 121 pitches. Calderon was also able to out do probable 2009 Postseason Stud Pitcher of the Year, Travis Bane. Calderon TWICE went into Polo Grounds and faced one of the best teams in EWB and TWICE he came out the victor and the Player of the Game. For that, Stroh's would like to send him a 40 oz. beer and a brand new Stroh's ballpoint pen in addition to his Award.

2009 NLCS MVP: Miami v. Dallas

The 2009 Stroh's NLCS MVP Award goes to....

LF MILLARD HAMMOND, MIA. Round of Applause!!!

This was a really tight 4 way race between Hammond, Bane, Mitchell, and Coad but Hammond's clinching Game 6 Player of the Game sealed the deal. Hammond was able to get a hit in every game of the series but one and in 4 of the 6 games he got at least 2 hits. Hammond finished with a series line of 9-25, .360 avg, .441 obp, 1.194 ops, 2 HR, 4 R, 5 RBI, and 2 doubles. Hammond also has the intangible attribute of being a natural born leader and was the heart and soul of the team during the season and this postseason. AFTER the World Series, we recommend you kick back with a giant, frosty glass of cold bubbly Stroh's, good man.

2009 ALCS MVP: Omaha v. Kansas City

The 2009 Stroh's ALCS MVP Award goes to....

SP DANIEL BALLEW, OMA. Round of Applause.

Omaha is renown for having multiple players step up when needed and being all around dangerous up and down the lineup. The series versus KC exemplified that when 4 separate Wolverines won Player of the Game in the 4 Omaha wins. Yet there was a model of consistency in the series that contributed heavily to 2 of the 4 wins and that was Mr. Daniel Ballew who earned 2 Wins. In Game 2 with Omaha up 1-0 in the series, Ballew pitched 7.0 IP, 1 ER and 8 Ks to lead the Wolverines to victory. He followed that performance up in the clinching Game 6 by going 7.0 IP, 2 ER, and 4 Ks. Ballew accounted for 2 W's and 14 solid IP in the series and for that we're sending him a brand new Stroh's golf visor along with his award.

2009 ALDS MVP: Omaha v. New York

The 2009 Stroh's ALDS MVP Award goes to....

C HECTOR MORA, OMA. Round of Applause.

Let's put it this way, if Mora hit then Omaha won, if not, they lost. In the 3 games that Omaha lost Mora was 1-10. In the 4 games that they won he was 8-15, 5 R, 5 RBI, 3 BB, and 2 HR. Of course one HR was a 3 Run Blast in the bottom of the 9th of Game 1 to win it all. Despite that he was not given the Player of the Game which oddly went to Maurice Gabriel. However, Mora came back in Game 2 to give Omaha a 2-0 series lead and to reclaim his rightfully deserved Player of the Game. Relax and tell Alibi to toss you some ice cold Stroh's instead of his usual heat, you earned it Hector!

2009 NLDS MVP: Dallas v. Pittsburgh

The 2009 Stroh's NLDS MVP Award goes to....

SS EDWIN CHAPMAN, DAL. Round of Applause!

The 26 year old rookie only played 39 games in Dallas this season and hit a paltry .193 but when the NLDS rolled around, he stepped up to the plate. Chapman was a key player in the Brahmas' offense against Pitt, he finished with a .368 avg, 2 HR, 6 RBIs, and 4 runs. In addition, Chapman got hits in every game but Game 4 and he won the Player of the Game in Game 2. Chapman was also able to play a solid defensive SS. Chapman got stiff competition from teammates Daniel Rowe and Chris "Trenchcoat" Smith for the MVP but Chapman's consistency throughout the series was the difference. Don't partake too much in this complimentary semi full of kegs, Mr. Chapman, Miami wouldn't want you too drunk to play in the ALCS, right?

2009 ALDS MVP: Kansas City v. Washington

The 2009 Stroh's ALDS MVP Award goes to....

SP JAKE HATFIELD, KC.  Round of Applause!

The Ace of the Wheat Kings actually did not even get a decision in Game 1 and the Wheat Kings ended up losing, so that made this decision slightly tougher. However, Hatfield still pitched extraordinarily well in Game 1, going 8.0 IP and 0 ER but 1 unearned run. He turned the 1-1 game over to Dennis O'Dell who inevitably gave up the game winner to Washington. Hatfield really earned this award in a crucial Game 6 with the series tied 2-2. Hatfield pitched 8.1 IP and 0 ER with 4 K's. That was enough to beat Washington and James Beauregard 2-0 and take a big 3-2 series lead. Hatfield was named Player of the Game for Game 6. Throw your hat off Hatfield and celebrate the cool victory over the Admirals. Toss a Stroh's back like you'd toss an Admiral off his ship, partna!

2009 NLDS MVP: Miami v. St. Louis

The 2009 Stroh's NLDS MVP Award goes to....

C STEVE MITCHELL, MIA. Round of Applause!!!

Remarkably, Steve Mitchell accounted for half of Miami's total runs in the 4 game sweep of St. Louis. The rookie catcher scored 6 runs and knocked in 6 RBIs for a total of 12 of the 25 Banditos runs. The #1 prospect in baseball was the primary offensive force in Game 1. He reached base in all 4 at bats and scored 2 of the 4 runs. In Game 3 he won the coveted Player of the Game by going 3-5, 3 runs, 4 RBIs, and 1 HR in the 12-3 decimation of St. Louis. Mitchell hit in every game and accounted for runs in every game and was rivaled by nobody (well perhaps Hector Perea). Here's an ice cold Stroh's for you, young buck, sit back and enjoy recounting your tales of scalping Savages.

2008 World Series MVP: Washington v. Houston

The 2008 Stroh's World Series MVP Award goes to.....
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TB2C6VKz9fY/RlzVxeHvZDI/AAAAAAAAABE/2VySJx8017M/s320/strohs2.jpg

SP PEDRO "LOOSE" MACIAS, WAS.  Round of Applause!!

The ALCS MVP comes back and wins the World Series MVP with another clutch performance, this time against Houston. This World Series MVP is more of a coronation for the whole postseason as Macias was unbeatable and won an unprecedented three Game 7's. Macias first took the mound against the Black Gold in Game 3 with the Admirals down 2 games to 0 and hope dissipating like Seattle fog. Loose was able to march out there and pitch 6.1 innings, only allowing 4 hits and 2 runs putting Washington in a position to win. The bullpen wasn't able to hold the lead and Washington found themselves down by 4 going into the 9th but managed to come back and rally. The series played out to a Game 7 where Macias would find himself in his 3rd Game 7 situation of the season. This time the Admirals left no doubt, nor did Macias who gathered the W.  Loose went on to finish the game with 6.0 IP and 2 ER. In the entire postseason of 2008 he would finish 4-0 in 6 starts with a 1.66 ERA in 38 IP, 25 K's and a 0.92 WHIP...simply stellar. Let the big dogs "loose" tonight fella with some supreme ice-cold Stroh's, fine ladies, and election night coverage on this first Tuesday of November 2008.
